Sunday Club meets in St Lleurwg’s Hirwaun every Sunday of the month, except for the first Sunday when the Church joins together for Café Church. It is open to all children of School age. On a typical Sunday they break into age appropriate groups. Though they meet in the Church Hall they join the rest of the Church for Holy Communion.
The Parish operates Messy Church in both St Lleurwg’s Hirwaun & St Winefred’s Penywaun. A typical Messy Church involves interactive games, crafts and a short talk or story. They are all linked in with a particular Christian theme. After all that is done we normally share a meal together. It is open to people of all ages, though Children must be accompanied by an adult. N-Gage meets on Mondays in the St Lleurwg’s Hirwaun Church Hall. It is a ‘drop-in’ session where children come together to play games, do craft and generally hang out. It is open between 3.30pm and 5.30pm and is for Children of Year 3 age in school and upwards
Deep End is for Children aged year 5 in School and upwards. It is a time to think about Christianity and what it means. There is time for sharing news, thinking about the Bible, prayer and fun. Deep-End also serves as conformation preparation for those seeking to be confirmed by the Bishop.
The Ark is a parent and toddler group that meets at 9.15am in Hirwaun Church Hall every Thursday in term time. It is open to all. Entry costs £1.
Thought the year we run a range of activates in both Churches aimed at Children, young people and families. These range from Film afternoons, to Christmas parties, to Easter parades, to Teddy Bears picnics. Please see our news section for more information.
The Parish of Hirwaun has a large and active branch of the Mothers Union. They meet monthly in the Church Hall for prayer, socialising and active charity work. On the first Wednesday of the month there is a Mothers Union Eucharist in St Lleurwg’s Hirwaun at 10.30am.
The Women’s Guild it made up of both Church members and non-Church members. They meet monthly in the Church Hall in Hirwaun. A typical session involves a guest speaker and socialising.
The Parish men’s group tend to meet once a month. A normal meeting involves some kind of activity or trip. That might be going to the pub, going ten-pin bowling, playing table tennis or just having a laugh. Please see our news section for more information.
Small Discipleship Groups
Small groups are a way for people to meet together in a safe environment to talk about their faith, discuss the Bible and Pray. We have, or looking to have, several Small groups in the Parish. If you are interesting in joining a group please get in touch with the Priest-in-Charge.
At several points in the year we run other discipleship courses in response to a particular need or season. We run an annual Lent Course in the Parish, as well as introduction to Christianity courses and other courses. For more info please see our next section.
Out for an hour
Operating on a Tuesday morning at 9.15am in St Lleurwg’s Church Hall, Out-for-an hour is ‘drop-in’ for anyone who fancies a cuppa, some cake and a chat. A typical ‘out for an hour ‘is made up of parents from the school run, retired folk, people working shifts and anyone generally at a loose end.
