Priest-on-Charge

Revd Ceirion (Cei) Rees – Priest-in-Charge

Coming from Merthyr Tydfil, just a few miles away, Cei became the Priest-in-Charge of Hirwaun in 2013, after being a Curate in Bridgend and training in Trinity College Bristol. He is married to Liz, also a Vicar.

Parish Warden’s

Cerys Hartley

Originally from London, Cerys can be found most Sunday’s in St Lleurwg’s Hirwaun. She has been a Church Warden since 2016. She is also a licenced Lay-Reader in the Parish.

Elizabeth Peters

Elizabeth can be found most Sunday’s in St Winefred’s Penywaun. She has been a Parish Warden since 2014. As well as being very organised she makes the best Custard slices in the world!

Sub-Wards

Julie Hall (St Winifred’s)

Julie has been a regular in St Winifred’s all her life. Born in Penywaun she still lives in the community. She also serves as a youth Pastor in St Winifred’s and operates the IT on Sunday Services.

Angela Page (St Winifred’s)

As well as being a Sub-Warden, Angela is a youth Pastor and organises the Penywaun Messy Church. She is the parish Safeguarding officer and in her spare time a social care worker, wife and mother!

Sandra Slade (St Lleurwg’s)

Though born in Hirwaun Sandra has lived all over the world before returning home. As well as a Sub-Warden she is manager of the Church Hall in Hirwaun

Children’s Youth and Family Worker

Laura Ames (St Lleurwg’s)

Laura has been going to St Lleurwg’s since she was born. She joined the team in 2018 after completing a degree in Child Care. Along with her team Laura runs Sunday Club, mid-week youth groups, a toddler group, Messy Church and ‘out for an hour’.

Lay Readers

The Parish of Hirwaun is blessed with a team of Lay readers. They are licenced by the Bishop of Llandaff. Their duties include leading services, preaching sermons and helping in the Ministry and Mission of the Church.
